The third National River Summit 2019 was held in Karnali River with a theme to conserve the longest river of Nepal, Karnali. The summit was organized by the National River Conservation Trust (NRCT) and the Province of Karnali with the financial support from USAID/Paani Program. The co-organizers of the event were Pancha Deval Binayak Municipality, Aacham, Aathbish Municipality, Dailekh, Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists (NEFEJ), Youth Alliance for Environment, Tribhuvan University, and the Kathmandu University.
The four-day conference (28-31 March, 2019) was inaugurated by Chief Minister of Karnali Mahendra Bahadur Shahi.
The first day of the Summit was held in Surkhet and remaining three days were organized in Rakam, on the banks of Karnali. The Summit was attended by experts, researchers, river conservationists, government officials, and media persons.
