NEFEJ elects first-ever woman president (23 September 2022)

Nepal Forum of Environment Journalists elected its first-ever woman president following the conclusion of its 37th general assembly on September 23, 2023.

Members elected Roshani Adhikari as president, Gopal Tiwari as vice-president, Sabin Sharma as general secretary, Pragati Dhakal as secretary and Somnath Lamichhane as treasurer.

Tika Bandhan, Abhaya Raj Joshi, Srishti Kafle and Sujata Karki have been elected members. Wetlands expert Shailendra Pokharel and agriculture expert Yamuna Ghale have been elected expert members. The General Assembly also elected an audit committee under the leadership of Bijayrak Poudel with Nimesh Adhikari and Shobha Manandhar as members.

“We hope to take NEFEJ to a newer height during my two-year tenure as president,” said Adhikari following the election. “We will continue to raise our voice in matters related to the environment through our membership, Radio Sagarmatha, Ankhijhyal TV magazine and our online platforms,” she added.
