Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists (NEFEJ) celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8 by organizing ‘Move 4 Women’ campaign in which 17 different organizations, including the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) and Freedom Forum, had collaborated.

The campaign rally was organized to encourag the participation of male journalists to ensure the participation of women in all sections of the media, including at the policymaking level and the senior management. The campaign further advocated for press freedom, right to information and women’s overall participation in the media.

About 300 mediapersons took part in the rally held in Basantpur Durbar Square. Students from different schools and colleges recited poems, sang songs and performed dances to advocate for inclusive and women-friendly media.

All the participants were then provided with a booklet on Gender Policy for Media House 2075 so as to advocate for making the media friendly for women.
