Memorandum of Understanding signed between NEFEJ and Kathmandu University

30th July 2021, Kathmandu: A seven-point memorandum of understanding was signed between Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists (NEFEJ) and Kathmandu University at a ceremony held at the university today.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Vice Chancellor of Kathmandu University Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa. The signature was done by President Kosmos Biswokarma on behalf of NEFEJ and by Registrar Prof. Dr. Subodh Sharma on behalf of Kathmandu University.

The understanding has been reached with the main objective of disseminating the studies, research and discoveries being done by the professors, students and researchers working in the University and its affiliated faculties to the general public and policy makers through the media.

According to the MoU, NEFEJ will play its role through its media outlets; audio-visual, radio, online and print, to create an environment for the implementation of the findings and recommendations of the research and study. And, the university will also make its studies, research and discoveries available to NEFEJ. The University will make the materials available as long as the financial resources required to make them public are available. It has been agreed to cooperate in identifying and mobilizing other resources as well. Similarly, the two organizations will jointly hold national debate programs on environment and sustainable development issues.

Vice Chancellor of Kathmandu University Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa said that the MoU has paved the way for cooperation between the two organizations. He expressed confidence that the understanding would be implemented.

NEFEJ President Kosmos Biswokarma said that the understanding was reached with the main goal of making the researches available to the people. He expressed his commitment to make the studies accessible to the general public. He informed that the group will make public the activities of the university through its audio-visual program Aankhijyal, Radio Sagarmatha, online portal and print media.

Dean of the Faculty of Humanities Prof. Dr. Sagar Raj Sharma, Dr. Sudhansu Dahal including other officials shared that there is a lot of potential for cooperation and they are eager to implement the understanding while Prof. Dr. Bal Chandra Luintel conducted the program.
