NEFEJ to collaborate with CEN on raising awareness on Climate Change adaptations

  • Published Date : March 1, 2021

Post the successful Aankhijhyal media campaign to raise awareness on air pollution in January 2021, NEFEJ has once again joined hands with CEN to raise awareness on Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) implementation plan and the long term strategy (LTS) of Nepal. Nepal prepared its NDC in the process of implementing the decisions of the Conference of the Parties (COPs) through a broad-based stakeholder consultation processes. The cumulative impacts of Nepal’s NDC would greatly contribute to limit temperature rise to safe levels and make this planet habitable.

Nepal, a Party to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), published its first NDC on October 2016 to support the global effort to limit temperature rise to well below 2°C above preindustrial levels and pursuing efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. As a part of this project, NEFEJ will conduct training program and produce two video documentaries and five short video clips on climate change. For this, the Audio Visual Team at NEFEJ will visit the Terai region; Siraha and Udayapur and hilly districts to capture good adaptation practices, community resilience and livelihoods. The Aankhijhyal production team will visit Siraha and Udaypur during second week of March for the first video documentary production. In addition to this, NEFEJ will also produce media briefs on NDC implementation and LTS.

All the activities undertaken through this project will be centered upon climate change mitigation, adaptation and resilience building.
