Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists (NEFEJ) has urged the concerned body to immediately withdraw the government’s decision to repeal the scientific forest management procedure.
The Forum issued a statement condemning the government’s decision to repeal the procedure and demanded that the decision be reversed.
Saying that the procedure would not be bad in itself, NEFEJ had earlier suggested the parliamentary committee to move ahead by correcting the complexities in favor of its implementation. The Forum said the decision further confirmed that the government has repeatedly shown double standards in the areas of environmental protection and sustainable development.
According to the group, the government has played a double role in the field of air pollution and the number of decisions that will adversely affect the conservation of biodiversity in the coming days has also increased.
