The General Secretary-Ramesh Bhusal, Executive Director- Laxman Upreti and Strategic Partnership Program Coordinator-Durga Karki from Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists were amongst the few attending the Hague Planetary Security Conference conducted on 12th and 13th December in The Hague- The Netherlands.
The Conference, third of its kind, is a part of the Planetary Security Initiative launched by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs to enhance and improve political awareness and engagement on climate related risks. The PSI, now managed by a consortium of leading think tanks, also aims to develop policies, promote good practices and support concerned stakeholders in upholding and securing peace in areas prone to climate change conflicts and risks.
The first day of the 2017 Conference saw different sessions, from the opening focused on Climate, Security, Migration & Urbanization to special workshop sessions including a case of Lake Chad. The second day is set to highlight upon climate security assessment and also include the case of Asia-Pacific Region and water conflicts associated with it.
