Amidst a brief discussion on October 6, Sahaj Man Shrestha, renowned senior journalist, has been appointed as the new Station Manager of Radio Sagarmatha. Shrestha has a long experience working as a journalist in different media houses and has also served as operation chief/chief executive producer in Image Channel, Executive advisor in Himalayan Television, Producer in Nepal Television, the President of NEFEJ and Radio Sagarmatha for 3 different periods, currently he is a vice president of Freedom Forum Nepal, he is a steering committee member of Internet Rights and Principle Coalition (IRPC) of Internet Governance Forum, he is a executive board member of Antenna Foundation Nepal. His term had been preceded by Laxman Upreti, the current Executive Director of the NEFEJ, who also served as Radio Sagarmatha's Station Manager for 7 months.
The recent technological developments and changing media landscape has seemed to sideline radio across the nation. This has raised the concerns of their existence and overall sustainability. Radio Sagarmatha is no different. Saying this, Ramesh Bhushal, General Secretary, shared how this challenge could be turned into a golden opportunity if all the forces are rallied in together. Echoing his point, Arjun Dhakal, President, also stressed upon the need as well as expressed his commitment to increase the sustainability and effectiveness of the radio.
