On April 22, 2017, NEFEJ had the pleasure of welcoming team of delegates from JICA international mission. The team consisted of Harada Makoto, President at the NHK International (inc.), Asia's first public broadcasting organization, Toshiyuki Sato, Secretary-General at Public Broadcasters international and Special Controller for NHK International, Shimizu Daisuke, Secretary General at National Election Administration Committee- Japan and Hashimito Keiichi, Ph.D., Senior Adviser to Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as well as officials from Japanese Embassy and JICA Nepal.
During the visit, the team was briefed upon NEFEJ and Radio Sagarmatha as well as its different activities by the organization's President- Arjun Dhakal, Secretary -Sharada Rijal and Executive Director -Laxman Upreti. Apart from discussing the importance of Community Radio and Public Broadcasting in Nepal, the meeting also shed light on the important role NEFEJ had played in its earlier days, one of which is the 'Radio Andolan (Radio Movement'. Similarly, there were talks regarding the upcoming election and the influence it might have on Radio Sagarmatha.
Following the discussion, the team saw the proceedings at Radio Sagarmatha, its news section as well as the broadcasting studio. Later, it visited the Audio Visual Department where they were shown the journey of 1000 episodes of Aankhijhyal video magazine as well as the episode of Nayapusta TV News.
The team was originally here for a discussion with the Election Commission as well as the journalists from different media houses on the balanced and credible news coverage in the upcoming local elections.
